Stairs lead down from the roadside to a warm welcome, views into the open kitchen and a first glance into a lovely space of red brick archways broken up with large skylights. The atmosphere is calm, we’re early, and as more people arrive a gentle buzz circulates.

After a week spent with family and friends, we are feeling well fed and ready to welcome in the New Year. 2017 will always be a memorable year for us. At the end of July we gathered together our nearest and dearest to get married. A weekend full of love and laughter that we wish we could relive all over again.

Effortless chic, says a comment left under a photo of Ume Sacranie on her stylish Instagram feed @umeromaan. Ume does make dressing look simple – keep colour just-off monochrome, wear slim pants cropped above bare ankles, throw on a statement coat and leave the house carrying a neat little bag. Easy.

There's a festive feeling in the air... we love this time of year, every weekend is booked up to spend time with friends and family, and we're absolutely ready to eat, drink and be merry.  Once again, we have pulled together our Christmas Wish List in the hope it will inspire your own.

We are delighted to have been selected by Instagram to be one of 50 brands to take part in a special Christmas market on Saturday 2 December at Old Spitalfields Market in Shoreditch, London.  It's open to all and promises to be a fantastic opportunity to find unique gifts from independent small businesses.

We don’t rush things at Campbell Cole – if we're going to create something new, it needs to be right. We obsess over detail, shape, function, proportions, colour, materials and trims. Working closely with our craftsmen; tweaking, iterating and testing until everything is just right, and we're happy to put our name to it.

 

Two days set up and five days exhibiting at any show can be a daunting prospect but this year's designjunction was an absolute pleasure to attend and seemed to fly by.  The key to success is always in the planning and we had carefully designed our stand over the previous few weeks. 

Jim Marsden is a photographer from Lancashire. So enamoured with the quality of image that is produced when shooting with film, he doesn’t use digital. We approached Jim to photograph a Simple Day inspired the British seaside, as we knew the rich, almost tangible quality of his work would be perfect.

Richard Gaston’s photography has been a favourite for a long time.  A little ironic, but in a world that is increasingly urgent and lived through small digital screens, Richard’s Instagram feed provides escapism.

Just one year out of university and Jordan Bunker has jumped feet first into working freelance as a men’s fashion and lifestyle blogger. With writing for GQ and ASOS already under his belt, he is now working with independent brands as well as large retailers to create online content.

Working with British manufacturers means we visit our makers regularly; it is an essential part of our development process and a privilege during final production. Last week, we arrived whilst all hands were on deck making for Campbell Cole - a great opportunity to see a highly skilled team in action.

The perfect time for reflection. Integrity is at the heart of what we do and many decisions made are often not the quickest or easiest but it is important for us to stay true to our belief in quality of materials and manufacture, which means working with suppliers and retailers who hold similar values to us.

This Christmas, Ian and I thought it would be nice to put together a wish list of the things we have had an eye on over the last few months. We are in the process of renovating our first house so there is definitely a theme of home-inspired gifts running throughout.

In 1917, Le Corbusier was working as a consultant architect, as well as being heavily involved in managing a factory making concrete blocks. It was in this year that he met Amédée Ozenfant at a lunch at the Association of Art et Liberté in Paris.
